Loved the cover photo and thought that I would give this author another try, I am glad I did. I was not impressed with book 1 in this series but I really enjoyed this story, The search for a unknown father was the starting point for a whole new adventure with several attempts on her life, and excitement in finding an inheritance full of history and secret passageways. I will definitely read more of her writings.Product details

Carli Williams was taken by surprise when a man comes up to her in the street, tips her back, and passionately kisses her, but she can’t forget that kiss. Apparently, neither can he, because he keeps turning up. But Carli has more on her mind with troubles piling up and a dilapidated estate to repair as an inheritance.
Ethan Durham had staged a kiss to resemble the famous one from WWII for an art class, but he never dreamed the girl and kiss would linger with him. This may just change everything, especially when he learns someone wants to harm Carli, and he vows to protect her.
I wanted to like this novel more, but I just couldn't. It seemed so fragmented and had no flow. I didn't really like either of the main characters. Carli was called “spunky,” and she would defy Ethan and get into trouble and then fall apart. He was always smirking and being controlling. They just didn't seem to go together. The descriptions of the many rooms on the estate were lengthy, but I couldn't picture what it was talking about. Too much of the story was awkward or just didn't make sense. How could Carli “unknowingly resurrect a wall around her heart,” when the passage was written from her point of view? How does someone smell amber?” Sentences like, “The shot had contacted a set of mixing bowls, shattering glass everywhere,” could have been better written. Galvon’s last name was Stanfield most of the time, but occasionally it was Sinclair. Spigot was spelled “spicket.” And these were only some of the examples. Nothing was strong in the book, not even the ending.
I read often, which is becoming an expensive habit. In an effort to save our budget I started looking for cheaper books, and came across Unexpected Kiss. I was pleasantly surprised, and couldn't put it down. This book has a little bit of everything, and I found it easy to relate to the characters. The author did a great Job of portraying God's unconditional love, grace, and forgiveness through their lives. I look forward to reading more of Regina's books in the future!
Although there were some "errors" throughout the book, they weren't too distracting as they were ones that a proofreader should have corrected. I did enjoy Carli and Ethan's story, I couldn't put it down until I finished the book.
I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book. I soon found that I couldn't put it down! I had to see what would happen next. This is a book full of the message of God's great love and HIS merciful forgiveness! It's also full of romance and mystery! There is some great action that holds you to this book...even in the wee hours when sleep should prevail! I LOVED this book!
This is the second book in The Ozark Durham series and it's another great one! Ethan's gentleness with Carli as she learned to open her heart was endearing. I was kept on my toes trying to figure out the mystery with Carli's father, the house he left her, and the strange incidents that occurred. I loved the Biblical message this book conveys about wealth, "...God doesn't bless us to raise our standard of living; He blesses us to raise our standard of giving." I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it...along with the rest of the series!
Some people do have bad examples of unconditional love like God gives! We're made to feel like dirt and worthless individuals. That's really sad. Family should defend and protect, not cowtow to felons and become felon's themselves. We all need better examples of Christ, instead of the devil. Keep writing Regina, your priceless! Bought with a price! Highly recommend!
Carli Williams has a past she's not proud of but determines to make a fresh start for herself. A start that includes not getting involved with men and finding the father she's never known, which leads her into an adventure she may not be ready for. Ethan Durham is working on his engineering degree and waiting for the Lord to show him the woman he's meant to be with. Little does he know that the woman he picked for the photo reenactment of the WWII kissing photo just might be her. But one things for sure, he won't get the chance to find out if he can't stop the attempts made on her life.
This was a great installment to The Ozark Durham Series. It had lots of mystery and surprises along the way as you try to figure out, with Ethan and Carli, the answers to several contemplative questions. I would love to read Carli's brother's story! (hint, hint)! Although this didn't have as much romantic tension as Abandoned Hearts, the chemistry between Ethan and Carli was still great. Ethan, at times, reminded me of his father, which was fun. I was hoping to see Ann and Jacob again but they were only mentioned a few times. Unconditional love and forgiveness was the underlying message which I thought the author did really well. One line that I absolutely loved and highlighted in my was "...God doesn't bless us to raise our standard of living; He blesses us to raise our standard of giving." That is GREAT truth to remember! If you're looking for a fun story filled with mystery and sweet romance, then I recommend you pick up Unexpected Kiss. Now I am anxiously awaiting "Coveted Bride"!
